I think it’s because trans women are triggering their “male predator red flag” gut instinct. They think all trans women are just creepy/perverted men. Meanwhile, they think trans men are pretty much just lost or hurt girls, so they don’t see them as a pressing threat.

That might be the case for terfs, because a lot of them are just misandrists (notice how they frame men as being predatory for some reason? That pretty sexist and they’re very gender essentialist in their thinking so they’re transphobia grows out of sexism) however for most (like stonetoss here) it’s as simple as “why would a man want to be an inferior gender?” And that’s it.🤷‍♂️
