Grew up/ live in one of the most left leaning cities in the US, if not #1. And my mom’s side is from the south/ am very close with that family. The way people talk abt the south up here is often classist and racist, and they don’t even realize

Sorry, not ur target audience but yeah I’ve always found this odd but also I think it shows how the American social system is so set up based on race that they find it hard to think outside of its context

I think #1 made a really good point here. You live in a region where everybody is disadvantaged, while a lot of other people come from places where black people are much more disadvantaged than white people.

That’s the issue, ppl don’t want to talk about race but it’s so integrated in American society it has to be talked about. Little things you wouldn’t think are racial literally are.
