if you’re going to donate, do exactly like #1 said. you need to donate places that already have an infrastructure set up in place to get aid there. there’s a lot of places to donate, but that will not help for YEARS to come. places that are already prepped and ready can help as soon as they really can and THAT is what’s most important at this moment. yes donating to other places is still good, but right now it’s urgent that people donate to places already there and ready
I took this class that basically said that USA has this white savior complex and we want to donate and help (which is good, don’t get me wrong) but the majority of people donate to the wrong places. by the time the aid gets there, the place has typically recovered enough to start their own economy back up and free shit sets them back. still good for the people, but also not bad for those who have small business. it’s hard to explain. take away was - research and make sure the places are there
