Bringing this back because I love arguing about it: what’s the best state and whyVirginia, but not NOVA. The 757 has beautiful beaches, the shipyard that makes nuclear submarines, and lots of gorgeous historic districts and gardens. Southern and central VA have that southern farm pleasantness to drive through and there are Amish and Mennonite areas with delicious food. Up in the Shenandoah region we have some of the best views in the nation above and below ground.
OKC Bombing Memorial, OKC thunder, couple places to eat, Tulsa is also cool, couple cool ass museums, 3rd most casinos apparently, worlds tallest hill, there are some mountains in the south, and Black Mesa parks but again whether these are interesting enough to go here you can be the judge
That’s cause they over hype New Orleans tbh. Baton Rouge, for example, has parades that rivals that of New Orleans. The surrounding areas around Baton Rouge are filled with small tight knit communities and mom and pop food places. Outside of New Orleans the rest of the state has beautiful culture and knows how to party. And if partying isn’t for u there’s other swamp tours, plantation tours that are actually educational, and much more. Tbh, the rest of Louisiana doesn’t like New Orleans as much-
My picks for the top places to visit include Hood River, where the Columbia gorge meets Mt. Hood and the fruit orchards are stunningly beautiful, Cannon Beach, where you can really appreciate our scenic coastlines and small coastal town charm, and Joseph, where the skies are big and open and the mountains stand like skyscrapers. There’s something for everyone.
A lot of the cities here like Monroe or Shreveport kinda suck but most cities do suck. The little towns are hit or miss but the hits usually have really good hole in the wall restaurants. NOLA truly is full of culture and the crime rates give it a bad rep but I’ve walked the French quarter at night as a kid and an adult (I’m a woman) and never truly felt “unsafe” more like just cautious
it’s an absolutely beautiful place, there’s so many teeny cute beach towns, big cities, beautiful sunsets, full of wildlife (which yk this can be a pro and a con sometimes lol) i especially like how distinct it is culturally from every other state like, every other state has a vibe that’s at least partially replicated in the states around it. Florida has a little bit of literally every type of person in the US and then miami is the north american capital of south america lots of diversity and-
Washington is also very nice but I prefer Oregon because of the ecological diversity. Washington is kinda just one big rainforest with some plains here and there. Oregon has that too, on top of having expansive rocky gorges, high desert, rolling grasslands, everything. The weather is typically somewhat less rainy and sunnier as well. I prefer Oregon.
