I own a few guns, I think it’s ok. Guns per capita is actually inversely correlated with homicide rates in the US and I don’t feel like my guns, which are properly stored and only used for recreation (I don’t even have a gun I could reasonably use for self defense) pose a practical threat to anyone.
The national government shouldn’t be given the privilege to collect your private information at will in the name of science. If there is such a necessity for a data registry, individuals should be allowed to voluntarily submit their data to firms they trust. Centralized data registry’s on private information have historically served to oppress behind a mask of enlightenment.
This is more just my opinion, but another primary issue I have is that it is not voluntary. If master over here wants to give their data to a registry to further an experiment or cause they support, so be it. That’s their prerogative. However, the second it becomes forced, like what master is talking about, it becomes morally repulsive imo
