60+ years worth of studies are very clear that beating your children never helps long term, and you’re encouraged to reward positive behavior instead or use things like timeouts/privileges revoke. However, I would much rather have someone who beat their children (not severely, but spankings) then be an enabler/negligent.

Beating never helps long term regardless of age, gender, or personality type I changed my mind on this since I got beat as a child and read the Bible verse “Whoever spares the rod hates their child,” so I thought I would beat my children. But after I read the studies, I decided I would not beat my child.
