Don’t know about the forced labor, Presumably they should have a “choice”- now obviously, most people will take community service over prison.

Also, this is really an America specific thing, but I would pay them minimum wage. Not the sub-minimum ~$1 an hour, but just the minimum- 7.25. (I would increase minimum wage too TBF)

Prisoners in western prisons are segregated away and cannot contribute to society. Especially for a socialist country abandoned and working to rebuild itself after colonization I support these new rules
