“King of the hill is about becoming more progressive!” No it’s not, and that’s okay! It’s okay to like a show about a conservative man! You don’t have to justify it in your head as being “part of the culture” and then spread that silly notion!

It's not even about conservatism, Judge wrote King of the Hill to poke fun at different caricatures from all over the political spectrum.

Yes, but the central figure is objectively a 90s conservative. That’s my point: people feel like they have to rewrite him in their heads as “secretly progressive” when he’s just a mature adult who also happens to be a conservative

I think it’s more old school progressive. Hank kind of embodies the ideal that everyone is entitled to their own peace. His family dynamic is more traditional while also breaking away from traditionally toxic behaviors

Hanks probably like 90% of centrists with left leaning philosophies and conservative backgrounds

I disagree with this. The central conflict of Hank's episodes usually ties into how his conservative worldview clashes with the environment he's in, especially when Bobby acts in a way he views as improper. The conflict resolves either when Hank's logic triumphs, or when he learns to adjust his worldview to be more accepting.

I feel like ur view of progressive is tied to like liberal stuff. Isnt hank just kinda like everyone can live their life so long as they dont force it on mine? And i think hes more progressive on the views on masculinity with the cotton stuff especially.

I can see the point you're making but I don't see Hank as progressive simply because the way he speaks when these conflicts come up paint Hank as a man set in his ways and unable to adjust.

Hank is constantly disappointed at his inability to understand why his son can't be "normal." He uses the same bad parenting techniques his father used on him on Bobby, like when he caught him smoking. I feel that it could be argued that Hank has a willingness to grow, but he's very stuck in his ways and has a hard time approaching a problem a different way, and I believe it makes it difficult to label him as progressive on that note.

If he were more open to change in the first place I could see him being labelled as that more comfortably, but some episodes go out of their way to show how sometimes Hank's idea of doing it "the old way" works at times.

Honestly you say that but no. If u dont want to include a trans person or any lgbtq person for that matter in ur life thats fine, but that is very different from saying these people shouldn’t exist or enjoy the same rights as i do as human beings. current conservative legislation attempts to goes as far as to ban them or kick them out of anything in public.

Like im not 100% on every philosophy of the lgtbq or the trans community. But i can acknowledge their basic humanity and grant them basic rights and privileges that i have.
