Let me break it down for you. Big words for Elmo. Rowling is not some random woman. She is one of the most powerful and influential public figures in the UK. She has ears in government that actively listen to and promote her ideas. For the past several years, she has used her platform almost solely and exclusively to spread libel, disinformation, and propaganda targeting trans people. This has had an observable and profound effect on the public’s perception of trans people.
