The carrier group that is down there could by itself basically destroy their entire military. Vietnam had been engaged in resistance to imperialism for 40+ years, there were millions of hardened, committed fighters already. Venezuelans are borderline starving as is and have no love for Maduro, who has had to violently put down mass protests on many occasions. They aren’t the same country
