Economic and social decay + left wing media largely ignored them and right wing media largely catered to them + the “left” (really neoliberal democrats) didn’t offer young men (or young women) any sort of substantial economic improvements or a strong cultural narrative to cling to

The beginning years of a generation and the final years of a generation are typically quite different and they begin to engage in counterculture opposing their immediate elders in proximity.

because the white working class is an inherently reactionary class, and there is a capitalist and colonial superstructure predicated on keeping the white working class men reactionary

people went so far with being “progressive” in 2020 that they became overly sensitive and then people didn’t like that so they went to the other extreme unfortunately

The right has more competent propagandists, but the neoliberals and leftists BOTH are woefully incompetent. Plus, in the case of neoliberals, they govern horribly, and in the case of the left, many are just bad at communicating with young men because they come off as condescending (how many times have you heard someone say the male loneliness crisis is fake or a joke or SOLEY confined to men that are unhygienic racist internet addicts).

As someone that got caught in the pipeline, The short answer was that it’s really the only thing that young people at the time could see was directly having an impact on their personal lives. And people only tend to get active in politics if they believe they have a personal stake, and the right seemed to be the only thing giving them one

These were really the only people that chose to try and appeal to them. Joe Rogan was pretty much the only guy on the left for this for awhile until the leftwing political youtubers & streamers popped up

They could recover from it, just put people like ShoeOnHead or the people at TYT front and center, and take male mental health as a crisis instead of a punchline. Its actually not insanely hard. I guess the hard part would be corralling the left wing thought leaders into being reasonable and responsible messengers…

That’s the problem, the DNC would rather prop up people like Dean Withers who read straight from the script they hand him, and the progressives are too fond of people like Hasan Piker, which is uh, yeah….

The DNC isn’t the left, they are the neoliberals. When I say the left, especially leftist thought leaders, I mean media figures like Hasan and Vaush, and politicians like Tim Walz. These 3 people I think represent some of the worst communicators the left has. There are good communicators, like Bernie Sanders, AOC, and ShoeOnHead, but they are actually the minority in the pool of prominent public Left wing figures (remember, not talking about the DNC neolibs)

also, I am claiming explicitly that AOC reaches young men better than Tim Walz, and that Walz is a disaster area of a public messenger. If that makes your head explode with shock, im sorry, I don’t know what to tell you.

It’s so odd how bad the left media is at representing themselves. It’s probably due more from the DNC and left center than anything. They control all of the corporate media and the party itself, and unlike the right they are unwilling to play ball with their sub group unless they’re forced to with people like AOC and Bernie

You don’t need a degree to understand that Tim Walz doesn’t reach anyone. He’s not respected by the general voting public as the election pretty clearly laid out

Pre and post technology…around 2010 the world changed as Apple hit the ground running and screens started to become a constant. How old people were when that happens was a big thing too. Did they grow up with a smart phone in their hand or did they grow up outside? Were they grounded by losing technology or being homebound?

imo Walz’s communication failed bc Harris campaign policies limited what he could/couldnt say As MN gov, I’ve seen him frame universal school lunch or defending immigrants as a responsibility to protect your neighbors, to care for your community’s vulnerable. his brand of masculinity projected strength without violence but limited to diet Republican reforms, Walz read hollow and toothless — just as Trump would, without deportations/walls/tariffs to substantiate his white nativist bluster

I agree with you, Walz’s is appeal is largely to his own & the progressive base as a whole and the DNC left it at that. They barely even let him try do to knowing that their policies and his don’t align, even if his were more popular. He might’ve been more effective as a vice president candidate for Biden then Kamala electorally speaking, as it kinda seems they picked him exclusively to appeal to progressives. They censored him so hard they managed to tarnish him as a candidate
