This practice was used in the military even earlier than that too. It used to be “inoculation” during the Revolutionary War but was basically the same premise bc people were dying of smallpox

Exactly, republicans cry about this as if George Washington didn’t force soldiers to do the same thing against smallpox, which he feared to be a greater threat than the British.
