I remember reading about this case a while back when it happened. I remember thinking that the facts were so terrible and obvious that this would be one of the rare times that victims of racist police violence actually got some sort of justice, like in George Floyd’s case. I guess I was naive. I also literally found out through this post on yikyak. Genuinely so sad.
I thought the same thing when i was a teenager after Trayvon Martin was killed. I figured it was obvious the justice system would hold him accountable… it’s what made me realize i’ve lived a sheltered life and didn’t understand systemic racism. nothing happened when they killed Aiyana Stanley-Jones or Tamir Rice either…
… because a baby who didn’t even get to live two years was murdered by a cop due to his assumption that shoplifting is a fatal crime that deserves shots fired wantonly into a vehicle. and the fact that it’s a pattern, if you look at Aiyana Stanley-Jones or Tamir Rice who were both children. Not to mention Attatiana Jefferson who was shot in her home bc an officer was surprised to see her as she stood at her kitchen sink & just shot at her. cops cause more harm than good, statistically.
A) systemic racism in this country is still very alive and present. And it’s awful. My comment didn’t negate that. B) You literally implied you wished I wasn’t here anymore. You’re an awful human being for implying something like that. This app is better without people like you that say stuff like that.
