Is it really a smear campaign for people to say she might be shitty towards her fans and her background isn’t quite genuine

See but that’s the problem. If a heterosexual or male individual was uncomfortable with the paparazzi or not engaging with fans directly, they would be paraded around. Tom Holland spoke negatively to the paparazzi and pushed them out of the way and was paraded around for it. Had Chappell Roan done the exact same thing which she has done, people would be shaming her for it.

the story was that her bodyguard wasn’t nice to a child of a famous soccer player… idk that doesnt seem that outrageous to me

I’ve heard multiple people criticize Jared Leto for the way he acts towards his fans, and that was before the misconduct allegations. Jennifer Lopez went viral a year or two ago for talking rudely to someone interviewing her on the street. Madonna and Kendall Jenner too

She could have fixed this herself by sending that girl some merch or something. Her parents are celebrities. She can get in touch with them. But instead she blamed the bodyguard and didn’t take accountability, when he works for her

But in no way has Jared Leto faced a smear campaign in the same way that Chappell Roan has. Most of the people that have been unfairly targeted by smear campaigns have all been women and/or queer people. Think about Sabrina Carpenter, for example. I would argue that a lot of of the people that are trying to cancel her or canceling her because she’s a woman and she’s making sexual music.

Why should Roan be expected to send that girl merch for the security guards behavior? He didn’t even work for her. He has confirmed it on his own Instagram.

So who tf does he work for? And because it’s no sweat off her back. It’s an easy way to fix a potential PR issue

Right like God forbid a woman would like space and to be treated like a human being, and not some kind of photo op 24/7 when she isn’t actively consenting.

“She’s a busy lady” ok so get the agent or publicist to handle it…why are y’all defending a celebrity like this 😭

there’s nothing to defend she didn’t do anything wrong

Because it is not her problem to take accountability for. You can argue that it would be nice if she sent the girls some gifts, but why would she be sending somebody gifts if she didn’t do anything to them? If this was just a PR issue, then people wouldn’t be trying to ruin her over it. People have been hating on her for a long time now they’re just searching for evidence for their confirmation biases.

We are defending celebrities because of the social consequences of attempting to ruin a woman’s career based on the fact that she’s a woman and queer. All of the things that people have been saying about her are rooted in misogyny and homophobia.

According to the security guard himself…his name is Pascal Duvier. He posted a whole statement about how he has never been employed by Chappell Roan and has never worked for her.

it’s not celebrities jobs to voice their opinions on politics.

Well someone brought up Zionism, so I thought that was relevant, because pro-Palestine celebrities actually have been victims of legitimate smear campaigns or seemingly irrational amounts of negative publicity

I had no idea about any of that. Regardless though, again, a woman, impacted by a smear campaign. She’s not queer though which goes a bit against my OG point but a great example of another woman targeted

I think the digging up Roan’s background is just rehashing old stuff, but she can easily correct these narratives with a bit of goodwill towards her fans. Sometimes celebrities forget that fans are the only reason they have any fame

I think it’s also possible Roan was a victim to the phenomenon where women may be perceived as “bitchy” if they’re not overly nice all the time. This didn’t just arise from the one girl’s account of how the guard treated her, but other people have said she’s not very nice either. It’s possible that she’s just not *overly* nice
