they tried to hard to make sure it didn’t happen with Irish immigrants and Black Americans before conning the Irish into “becoming white” for the privilege and leaving their neighbors and coworkers behind for it…

To be completely fair, they need cheap real estate. Impoverished neighborhoods probably have lower property values. It’s not totally on purpose but it’s also not by accident (impoverished neighborhoods probably also won’t show up at the city council meeting)
