They don’t give a shit about the Jewish homeland or whatever, that’s all window-dressing. Israel is America’s attack dog in the Middle East, and they are off their leash. I genuinely think it’s only a matter of time before America acknowledges that there’s zero tactical benefit to maintained relationships with Israel, especially with us getting closer to Saudi Arabia and Qatar during both Trump terms.
Hate having to channel Neocon War Hawk levels of Realpolitik but that is the framework that the USA has historically operated under with regard to foreign policy. It’s not America’s concern if Israel is abusing Palestine but otherwise doing their job as a vassal state, it is America’s concern if they start a massive regional conflict that diminishes their capacity as a vassal state.
Yeah they probably won’t until it’s too late and we already have to get involved to end whatever they start, because I’m assuming the administration is a rational actor on the international stage like previous administrations were (not saying their actions were good, Iraq was a crime against humanity and it was also a rational decision for US interests for example) because alliance with Israel isn’t even coldly rationally justifiable from an amoral view anymore.
