A little piece of history for you: Republicans wanted to abolish slavery because we did not like the way our black brothers and sisters were being treated. We believe all men are created equal ❤️

if only the Dixiecrats didn’t destroy that sentiment by allowing the KKK to be involved and leading to the film “A Birth of a Nation” having a special screening in the White House in February of 1915…

Lincoln would’ve allowed the South to keep their slaves had they not rebelled btw. He let states who stayed loyal to the union keep their slaves all the way until the passage of the 13th amendment cough cough Maryland

Trump’s rhetoric about people is directly correlated to the increase in hate crimes

Is hating Biden the only reason you support Trump? I don’t get how you are unphased knowing Trump was bffs with the biggest pedophile ever. Trump breaks insider trading laws daily and is the present day poster child for Mccarthyism. Please pick someone else, literally almost any other republican would do

Kinda the parties were sorta bipolar during the later half of the 19th century to the early to mid 20th century

No. But the Lincoln Republicans were vastly more progressive than the modern Democratic or Republican parties. Reminder: the promise of “40 acres and a mule,” which is to say, tangible reparations to black communities, was a policy platform of the post-civil war Republican Party. I can’t imagine the average Fox viewer would be thrilled to align with the reparations party.

Biden is a super gross racist POS, and it’s refreshing to see Republicans express distaste for racist politicians. Did you know that in 1973, Nixon’s DoJ found Trump and his father guilty of systemic racial discrimination, as they had refused all black applicants on the basis of their skin and spoke in code in an attempt to hide this. Look up “United States v. Fred C. Trump, Donald Trump, and Trump Managment, Inc. “ if you truly care about the moral fortitude of your representatives.

Further, Trump’s lawyer in this case, who would become a long-term ally/mentor of his, was on Roy Cohn. I can’t list the insane lineup of his sins here, but understand that Roy Cohn was basically an ontological evil. He was disbarred “after attempting to defraud a dying client by forcing him to sign a will amendment leaving his fortune to Cohn” - from his wiki.

abolition was, by definition, a progressive, anti-tradition-conserving stance. republicans held an extremely progressive stance, democrats a conservative traditionalist stance.

Oh yeah “40 acres and a mule” was land redistribution from stuff owned by the plantation elite. We’ve seen how much republicans have shit themselves over modern South Africa trying to do the same thing. They’re calling it white genocide.
