The U.S. stopped public executions because they attracted bad crowds. But nowadays with digital I think it’s important for people to understand what happens when you kill innocent Americans. This broadcast will help dissuade terrorists and save Americans.Let me clarify more: Historically public executions were a show of justice. They were made to make people understand the consequences and to feel safer. But later on, they became more of an attraction made for entertainment. Crowds would get drunk and have a good time, which was inappropriate. This is why public executions were abolished. Now, we have internet. People can see justice in private. This brings back the positive impact of executions without the negatives.
There is no positive impact of executions. You murdering someone for committing crime without addressing why that crime was committed only teaches people to be sneakier and better hide that crime. Also brother crime was much higher in the past than it is today. Finally executing someone opens the door to murdering an innocent person. Black people especially are more likely to be convicted even when proven innocent. This is seen when the death penalty was legal and even after it was banned.
No. It makes people think like this: “Grr I’m so mad I want to crim.” *watches person get executed for crim* “Hmm, maybe I should not do crim because I don’t want to end up like that person.” Everyone at some point has an idea to do something evil. Public executions help people forget the idea and focus on being a good person instead.
Most crime is committed through circumstances/situation/necessity. Hardly anyone wakes up one day and says “I’m going to commit a crime” My question is WHY are you PUSHING to kill people RATHER than wanting to ADDRESS the ISSUES driving them to that situation?
Exactly. People can lose their fear of death if their situation is that desperate. It’s why crime was much more prevalent in the past than it is today even when horrible punishments were done. A person’s hand would be chopped off if they were caught stealing food. That didnt stop people from stealing.
The logic is: when people’s fundamental needs are met (that is: warm, appropriate housing, accessible potable water, fresh food that is easily accessible, etc.) they perform better and they are less likely to commit crimes. Your entire argument is people wake up and just want to commit crime and that’s a fairy tale. yes some people do, but that’s not the general trend of crime.
