I feel like the “nothing ever happens” crowd is blind to gradual change. Yes, a dystopian authoritarian takeover of Washington is underway, should we rebrand it to “things don’t happen in 15 minutes”?

“Nothing ever happens” is the most ignorant take. There’s a lot happening for a lot of people all around the world

Nothing ever happens crowd here: give it a month, watch and learn, but by then you’d forgotten about this ever happening

Things have been steadily happening all year. Take a look around, and tell me the world hasn’t changed since last August.

“Nothing ever happens” is not literal lmao, obviously the weather changes, the day of the week changes, the stocks change, etc. obviously things change🥱

Specifically what “nothing ever changes” means is that there will always be constants in society that people work so hard to change. For example, there will always be homeless people, there will always be war in the Middle East, there will always be culture wars, there will always be somebody whining in the White House about some shit that doesn’t matter, there will always be the opposition to the person in the White House that will do anything to make them look worse, the list goes on and on

almost never? this is literally a coup in progress. the supreme court has essentially already given Trump semi-dictatorial power. the government is openly controlling the media, establishing a politically loyal secret police, building concentration camps etc. just because your life hasn’t been impacted yet doesn’t change any of this

So deploying it to protests around the country had a purpose beyond just scaring people?

January 6th repeat🥱🥱(not really but like I’m sure you thought the same exact thing about that). When has the government not controlled the media, media profits from two party politics? Secret service and the CIA already exist. There are thousands of American military bases worldwide, probably thousands of people getting tortured that we don’t know about.

Through all of this thousands of lives have been affected negatively. There is absolutely nothing I can do about it
