What compromise in particular are you talking about? Any specific examples?

Internet age restrictions, widespread surveillance of public roads, certain drugs, and childhood curfew laws to name a few.

Under the guise of safety, we allow the government and private corporations to control our movements and dictate what information we can and cannot see. We do become safer, at the cost of losing freedom.

That hinges on a government being trustworthy and responsible when handling citizens’ private information. Unfortunately the US government can and has taken advantage of “safety” measures to oppress citizens (ie ICE using cameras to track and assault immigrants) and therefore, in my opinion, such measures do more harm than good

Oh I agree as well, but technically it’s harder to access information that could cause harm and it’s more difficult for us to get away with crimes. We are in more danger from the powers that be though.
