Something very fascinating I once heard from British skeptic Michael Marshall is that in conspiracy groups you will have completely contradictory beliefs alongside one another. Hollow earthers and flat earthers and young earth creationists and alien believers. Ideas as contradictory to each other as they are to reality, but because the appeal is contrarianism to the main narrative they ignore that.
There was one where a bunch of flat earthers went near one of the poles to see the 24 sun and half of them left agreeing the earth was round. I thought it was funny because they must have flown there, and you can see the curve while flying lol. Another one was with a laser pointer, guy was like "is it on? I don't see it? Oh it's above my head? But you're pointing it flat? Shit.
