Also the phrasing of “homeless OR mentally ill” means they can basically just disappear people on the claim that they’re not right in the head. And they get to decide what that means

This is quite literally what the country used to do to gay people, depressed people, generally just anyone that didn’t conform to societal standards, often leading to destructive procedures like lobotomies, prior to the 1970’s. My home state, Oregon, has a particularly bad history with this, to the point that it was the setting of One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. Glad to see we’ve learned nothing!
