Abolishing prisons is an idealistic end goal that I don’t think should be abandoned in a socialist political map, but yeah… woke 1 died on the hills of video games, performative misandry, and idpol. Woke 2 will either die or kill on the hills of survival of the human race

i feel like we're so stuck on "woke 2 is so different from woke 1" but theyre really not so. a lot of woke 1 was just people being very performative because they werent really very informed. a lot of people who had misplaced, hardly coherent priorities just ended up getting swept right up into the right wing culture war in the same way. and then there was the corporate side of things, where they were advertising things not out of genuine advocacy but to beg for the money of new groups.

substance wise, woke 1 versus woke 2? its still about acknowledging injustices and advocating for justice. in the end, a significant overlap. however, we are seeing that different people are leading the charge, and it is not being co-opted, since the culture has shifted rightward, away from the position where theyd just be being performative.
