I’m gonna be honest, if you need your sports team to be named after a slur or else you’re gonna whine and cry and shit your pants, that’s such bitch behavior. Like, you’re a pussy if this kind of thing works you up, it’s pathetic
How does changing team names back to racist monikers and bases back to confederate names make America great

“Okay but you can same thing about people who get mad at the original name” if someone named a football team the Crackers and made the mascot a bucktoothed white redneck MAGA would have a fucking coronary over it

Never really understood the heartache about team names even as someone who likes traditional stuff tbh. The Guardians and Commanders are both pretty widely accepted now that it’s been around for few years. Plus, both those franchises have had some bad history so the new name means success now that they’ve both seen success.

Cracker here, that’d be hilarious. Mascot should be some dude in a plaid button down and blue jeans with a belt tucking in the shirt just called “Mike”

You’d find it funny, but sensitive southern MAGATS would take it as some sort of attack against them and demand it be changed all the while advocating for the Commanders to be reworked into a stereotype

honestly nothing can compare to fucking “the redskins” like it’s simply not the same, and it never could be the same, that essentially is part of the point

For one you’re describing a caricature that is tailored to be as disrespectful as possible of a group

Ones a stereotype with a slur for a name and the other is a stereotype with a slur for the name. Whether or not a bunch of white people deemed the stereotypical chief image respectful or not is irrelevant.

It wasn’t a white person, it was a Native American organization of which the image is based off of a member

The R*dsk*ns name and original logo was not decided by a Native American. It was chosen by a white guy, specifically their former owner George Preston Marshall, as a marketing stunt. Where the hell did you read that lol

Specifically, it was decided by a NFL executive who had no interest in promoting positive representation for minorities beyond their marketability. As a matter of fact, Marshall, a southerner, was a staunch supporter of segregation in the NFL.
