I mean trans people literally cannot be genocided by definition because they are not an ethnic, racial, national, or religious group. They obviously can and do face violence, but the terminology would be more like discrimination/eugenics; words matter

 Was thinking about how to post something along these lines the other day but Ms. Weikal captured it much better than I would have. I haven’t encountered the very last one personally, but I’m unsurprised that she has. We need to fight fascism EVERYWHERE!

Virtually everyone agrees that this narrowing of the definition is outdated in light of the fact that queer people exist. Why would you even try to drag out this sham of a point?

it doesn’t have to be called genocide to validate the seriousness of the threat tho—there are already words that describe the threats to queer people in the US

That’s also very true! In addition to OPs semantic point being wrong, it fundamentally doesn’t change the similarity of scope or severity of the threat.
