It’s because he’s a suck ass, he’ll suck the ass of anyone in the office so he can be a general annoyance to everyone else. Most if not all tech billionaires are like that

I agree, but the difference here is that thiel basically groomed Vance for going into politics. He financed JD‘s whole VC career, and iirc made significant campaign contributions and pulled some strings to get him on the VP ticket. Though many politicians are compromised by wealth and industry, the influence Thiel has on Vance is a level rarely achieved in the normally corrupt field of campaign finance.
