So does modern US history include events from two generations ago? Did Melissa Hortman and Brian Thompsons murders have the spectating audience Charlie Kirk did? Did any of those events have the child of the victim sprint towards the victim because they were scared of the noise?

No, what the fuck are you smoking? It's sealed. Every news source has now confirmed it. The lengths to which you mother fuckers go is baffling. And no, but it certainly adjusts the calculus. With Melissa Hortman, there was no audience; two died, which was impactful. Charlie Kirk was assassinated in front of a 500+ person crowd, and then algorithmically delivered to every American, which is far more visceral.

Other than one tweet and an article by the BBC that was later retracted, there’s no indication they were at the event or that the 3yo child to their father like you indicated fam. Even by the mother’s own words to when she arrived home to her children. We’re a society with access to anything instantly. Just because it was a videotaped assassination doesn’t make it anymore impactful than the death of an elected official or other killings we see everyday.

And yes, modern typically includes from the late 1800s to now. Contemporary History would be more in line with what point you’re trying to make, which even as such there are many many more tragic events besides Kirk’s death.
