
this is a bit of an odd read. none of the bombs listed are thermobaric and even thermobaric weapons don’t evaporate people— it takes nuclear bomb level force to do that. the method of counting also doesn’t make much sense— they said they would go to a targeted building, count the bodies, and then subtract the number of bodies found from the number of expected occupants and then consider the difference to have been because some bodies evaporated
Not that it matters too much, but after some research and seeing what Bellingcat researchers have said, it looks like these aren’t thermobaric weapons. The obliteration of people close by can be achieved by conventional weapons using tritonal explosives (which are used by the MK-84 and others). Instead of heat, it uses an intense shockwave that basically crushes the body and makes hollow organs like eardrums, lungs, stomach, and intestines explode 😦 the shrapnel flies at high speeds too and…
