Probably because the FAAs stance on mental health, medicine, and therapy are archaic & leads to the choice of “if you ask for help, you lose your career”.
Over the last 11 years pilot suicides have killed over 800+ people from intentional plane crashes like Malaysia airlines 370, Germanwings, air India, and that Chinese crash.
Well all the crashes op talked abt were in other countries. What’s the stat for the US? Most of our crashes are from deregulation and cost cutting

From what i just found it looked like around 8 in the past 20 years. Not many but not nothing either. And that’s specifically pilot suicide by airplane. I think the issue is the US/FAA kind of sets the standard most of the world follows in aviation

I do agree deregulation and funding are HUGE issues with the US aviation industry. But I’d say that pilot mental health is pretty Damm high on that list. At least from a pilot perspecti
