Yall downvoting like they’re wrong. “Vote blue no matter who” is a terrible idea when applied as a blanket statement; HOWEVER In the 2026 midterms it is what we absolutely need to be doing

I’d consider it a good idea as long as MAGA has captured the GOO

the goal is to simply make trump and the republicans unable to do or pass anymore harmful shit for the rest of this term. usually dems/gop vote with their side unanimously, so dems just have to take power somewhere. if people just don't vote or vote for people who have 0% chance of actually winning, the gop can continue to do harmful shit. like is it so wrong to ask to just make this admin useless?

yea yea yea dems haven't done shit and some vote with republicans I know but listen the best chance at making trump useless is by doing this and no he doesn't listen to congress but this is something and right now we have nothing

The goal is to actually make positive change. Electing someone who will bend over to republicans or sell their soul to corporations does not achieve that.

yes I do agree, but there's a whole lotta harmful things this admin is gonna try to push out before they leave. do we take the L on some shit dems so they simply cannot do those things? especially house members like their terms are 2 years. if those shit dems side with the rest of the dems and the dems control the house... gop will have a hard time passing anything

gotta think like that. next two years gonna be shit anyways, can we have shit house dems at least block the shitter things the gop wants to pass? it's not always like black and white

like unfortunately positive change rn is preventing the republicans from passing everything & I get that's a wild and weird thing to accept or understand but

once they block things, then we can take another baby step. fed gov doesn't work with big changes like people want. they do baby steps. take the baby steps. i'm begging

0 steps under the current dems are better than the 10 steps backward under republicans

yea but some current dems could lose their seats hence this post. if they lose their seats then republicans will have more control, so unfortunately to take the 0 steps, you have to vote in dems even if they kinda suck which people don't like to do

Many of the conservative Dems love to vote for republican legislation

No, you don’t have to vote for people who won’t represent you

upvote 1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #3 17w

yes but if we get enough seats then those few won't necessarily matter especially combined with the few republicans who vote with dems... I truly do understand how confusing and convoluted and messy this all sounds because why would you vote for people who don't represent you, you're right! but especially for house members who we will revote for in 2 years, it matters to a certain extent

the next two years are going to be horrible anyways regardless if the person voted in does not represent you HOWEVER that same person could very well vote alongside dems to block republicans and that is quite literally the bare minimum and what we truly need

Plus if Dems get a majority that means they’ll have way more control over what bills are brought to the floor and also how many seats to target winning in future elections. When it comes to the legislature it truly is a numbers game

like we have to be willing to accept that we cannot get any further change if the republicans continue to dismantle and cause harm. if these house dems can block that EVEN IF THEY SUCK AND DONT REPRESENT US then that is what we need to do. blocking everything halfway through this admin and being able to start repairs from here instead of republicans creating more problems and having to fix alllllllll of that

The number of seats held by democrats doesn’t matter if many of them are conservatives. What matters is the number of liberals, leftists, and progressives in Congress. Voting for a conservative just because they have a D next to their name achieves nothing.

Do you hear yourself? You’re literally arguing that people should vote for representatives who suck and will vote against their interests. People like you are why so many have given up on the Democratic Party.

Conservative dems aren’t optimal, you’re right on that, so hopefully progressives run in primaries and defeat them

You know the best way to prevent conservatives from taking over the party? Stop electing them to positions of power. Incumbents are so much harder to defeat in a primary.

🤣🤣 if progressives are so awesome then incumbency shouldn’t matter that much. At this point ur suggesting that progressives should forego primary challenges to moderate dems and just let the GOP beat them

…and then instead of a moderate Dem incumbent, you’ll have a GOP incumbent to deal with in the next election

how is voting to block things the gop will do if they are not there against their interests....? maybe they don't align perfectly with everything you want, but they will block the shitty things the gop wants to pass. it's a catch 22. you don't vote them in, the gop passes shitty things and will make it significantly harder to reverse it in the future. we see this in ohio. they passed a law for 40 years on a tax exemption for data centers

you put those shitty dems in for two years who will block things like that from passing and may vote for a few things you'd prefer them not to, but they block the big stuff...

if there are legitimately no other progressive options on your states ballot in the midterms that have a statistically reasonable chance of winning, it's essentially allowing the gop to pass harmful things

like actually ok sick dude, let's let all the dems fail bc they aren't progressive enough and let's genuinely see where that takes us hint: the gop will win every single time

When did I ever say not to vote for democrats? There are plenty of good ones, I’m planning on voting for the democratic candidate for both senate and house in my district. I’m saying we shouldn’t blindly vote for them because of their party affiliation.

yea the next harmful big thing on their list is social security and medicare and medicaid reform. any dem who votes for this would be career suicide and guaranteed no re-election which is always their end game. but the gop will sign with smiling faces. so it's either we have those things or we don't come next year

Voting for that won’t affect them as long as people like you only care about party affiliation
