A simple Google search shows that he moved it to his private dining room, replacing it with a bust of Winston Churchill in the Oval Office, which was there for many years before Obama replaced it with MLK’s bust in 2009. The bust is still in the White House, just somewhere else. Just a simple Oval Office decor change, happens in every presidency. Nothing more to see
From what I understand, he removed those articles since he believed that those heroes wouldn’t have been honored if they weren’t part of a “DEI group” (POC, LGBTQ+, etc.) and were just “white men”. I disagree with the decision, as it’s a PR mess and I believe that war heroes should never lose their honor/decor, but I understand the rationale.
Doing something right or wrong on purpose, and mistyping something on Yik Yak seem like vast differences and a very dramatic comparison😂😂. I didn’t “double down” on stupidity or ever say my original typing was proper. You seem like you just wanna find something to be offended about on the internet today.
wait so mlk not being a literal saint is reason for trump to remove his bust from the oval office, but the confederates, slave owners, lynchers, all around evil people are the ones who deserve trump to fight for their statues and names as titles everywhere? if you want to do a character assessment and remove whoever wasnt a saint, nothing would be left in that office, least of all trump
No “common knowledge” that I can find. Everything I’ve found just shows him criticizing communist Jews (probably Trotsky-based) and condemning Hitler’s actions against the Jews. Churchill was also a strong Zionist and has several quotes admiring Jewish feats in ethics and calling them a “higher grade race”.
The Nazis supported the idea of Zionism as a means to kick the Jews out of Germany. Once they realized a solution wasn’t imminent they quickly turned their backs on it, as Hitler even met with Amin al-Husseini, the “father of the Palestinian national movement” to ally with in WW2. It wasn’t long until they turned to systemic genocide after that in Eichmann’s “Final Solution.” As for Churchill’s quotes, he originally admired Hitler for unifying the German people after the chaos of WW1 (continue)
No one says MLK was a great person. We revel in his accomplishments in the field of Civil Rights, nothing more. Almost every politician who did great things has a checkered personal life. I’d challenge you to find one who doesn’t. If you want to know what actually happened with the bust and why this is overblown, check my other comment.
