So if Trump started seizing private companies you mean to tell me you’d be cheering the decision?

Assuming he also deported Elon and confiscated his wealth, it would be the first good decision he ever made and I would truly be thankful for it.

Trump seizes Amazon and makes TrumpMail™️ Trump seizes Walmart and makes TrumpMart™️ Trump seizes Tesla and makes TrumpCar™️ You mean to tell me with a straight face you’d look at those headlines and go “yay” and not “fascist”? The guy made Trump Accounts and TrumpRX which are 2 indisputable wins for Americans and people called him out for it lol

Only one of those is owned by Elon Musk.

So you only dislike some billionaires, and you don’t actually believe in the concept of nationalization. Got it

Wrong. Stupid rightoid. I just want the rest of them to happen after the orange pedophile is out of office.

If you believe it’s what’s best for the country and the people, why would you want it to be delayed 3 years?

Did you skim over the part where he said orange pedophile, or are you being stupid on purpose?

Why is that relevant to the topic of asset seizure and nationalization?

Seems pretty clear tbh. You’re just dumb.

Honestly, it depends on how he’d do it. There’s numerous companies in the US right now that desperately need to be turned into extensions of the government and public service. Insurance, private prisons. Electricity. ISPs- which, yes, the internet is a utility. My problem with Trump doing it is I think he would do it to seize power, rather than for the American people. But if he somehow didn’t- yeah, actually, I’d be happy.

A company has a mandate to pursue profit at all costs. This necessitates cutting expenses and growing income. It will always be at odds with what is best for the consumer, because what is best for the consumer costs money. The government’s only mandate is to work for the American people. And the government is accountable to those that vote.

If the government seizes SpaceX and pursues cost effective rocket launches the best it can, rather than suck up as much government funding in contracts as possible? Yeah, I think I’d be pretty happy. But I don’t think Trump would do that. I think if he did nationalize a company, he would do so to exert control over the company rather than anything else.

I appreciate you believing in your opinion enough to articulate why it is you believe in it. Thank you

I will note that what you mentioned- TrumpRX and Trump Accounts- tend to be ineffective at their stated purpose. Free healthcare or at least Medicare would work far better but Trump has been a long advocate against it. Price caps on medicine are also something republicans are consistently against, or regulation of PBMs. It just seems like a publicity stunt.

Trump accounts are similar. 529, IRA etc have more advantages. The only real advantage is for external gifting- from the government for example. But if that’s the case, why not use that money to fund, say, college for all more directly? It just seems like he wants to do something to make people view him more positively but takes the easy way- small amount of free money, slap his name on it and call it a day. Same as stimulus checks signed by him. Which, whatever, but it’s just virtue signalling

He did something (#1) that benefits people. You believe something else could be more effective/beneficial (#2). The existence of #2 doesn’t make #1 not helpful. I’m not gonna not give a homeless guy a dollar because really only giving him a house will get him off the streets

I left things out, like that TrumpRX didn’t actually lower prescription drug prices. It just offers preexisting discounts. You also can’t use them with insurance a lot of the time. So it doesn’t really… do anything? You can find cheaper generics elsewhere for like half the drugs on there too. Meanwhile they can say they’re addressing the issue while not doing anything about it. Like, don’t get me wrong, it’s not a wrong thing to do, but it’s just virtue signalling to attract voters.

Let’s be real here, even Mark Cuban, one of Trump’s biggest critics and founder of Costplusdrugs, praises TrumpRX for its strengths. We don’t need to shit on things that help people just because they don’t do more. It’d be way more effective to say “Great work! Now let’s keep it rolling” like Cuban does

Then perhaps he shouldn’t have gutted Medicare, which did far more. Like, that’s the context it exists in? He gutted Medicare and threw this out to keep voters.

I mean it’s basically iran again, create a problem (pull out of the highly effective nuclear deal) and then offer a shitty overall detrimental solution that looks good on paper but is ineffective or has significant other consequences
