People need to understand that while religion is human nature, it stems from an mental evolution that recognized that humans need to have shared values to work cohesively. Which, we get beyond when people understand science and patterns in our world.

I don’t think ive agreed with Blue Wave once aside from his obvious anti-MAGA stances, but he is absolutely right about this, and furthermore his comments are also correct. Rare Blue Wave banger.

It also serves to assuage the fear of impending mortality, something that humans, as far as we know, are unique in their ability to comprehend far ahead of time. We want something to 1)still exist when we die and 2) for it to be a nice experience as long as we were good

All people. We don’t necessarily need it forever. We need it in times of conflict and societal instability. Now that we understand why the science behind that need, we can use things like: government, social engagement, collective responsibility, and social concepts that have the same roots in theory. Secularism is for everyone to be on the same page, everywhere, not just your local geographical region.

exactly. And that’s hard to break, I think we’ll socially evolve not to fear those things anymore. Which is why I also believe we’ve gotten more non religious people now than any time before too.

I think people will always fear death, nobody wants total annihilation of experience. But they don’t necessarily need religion to repress the fear
