Yeah I’m sure the administration run by a guy convicted of tax fraud that posted “deportation ASMR” is really honest and unbiased in reporting numbers.

That is the most obvious propaganda I’ve ever seen. No metrics of measurement, no other context to explain this dramatic change in numbers. There is also no way even with drastic policy changes you can go from 62k to 0 in under a year

The statistics are 62k illegal aliens were released into the US in may of last year, this past may it was 0 a drop of 100% the 93% drop comes from encounters being roughly 117k last year of may and 8k this past may

They can claim whatever they want to. Don’t you think it’d make sense for them to report 0, even if the actual number wasn’t 0? So they can claim they’re succeeding If this was 3rd party data, it’d be a little more trustworthy

I don’t know what you’re really looking for, but heres some corroborating data from the migrant policy institute, that covers migration all over the world. But as a general rule, .gov websites have much more accurate research on topics and .orgs typically aren’t accepted as valid sources (on things like academic papers, or research)

Nooooo, they used to be that way. Since Trump has been in office, .gov websites have routinely spread misinformation and propaganda. That’s not even mentioning the thousands of publicly available datasets that have been permanently wiped from existence

What you’re doing is called being delusional, Under the Biden administration they over exaggerated the job report numbers by upwards of 800k and then was revised, that hasn’t happened under Trump and you can’t say “they lied” just because you feel like it. They report numbers and they are consistent with reporting, if they aren’t then it’s investigated and revised (like what happened numerous times under Bidens admin.

So you already know that this stuff can be falsified. What happens if the people in power (who have the ability to order investigations) are the ones who want the data falsified? I promise you, I’m not being delusional. I used to rely on federal data sets for my thesis research. It’s my job to understand data.

And again ICE has been pretty fair in it’s reporting, honestly showing higher numbers when Biden was president, then showing lower numbers when Trump was president, you can tell its nonpartisan because they wouldn’t be showing the Data that says Obama deported more illegal immigrants than Trump

I already explained it’s from 62k to 0 down 100% and the 93% number is the *encounters 117k last May to 8k this past May. Which is a 93% decrease.

they reduced encounters? by 93%? encounters? please id love to hear what an encounter is because it sounds like theyre either using lethal force or have some incredible force field up

Yes. Actually, it’s called reasonable prudence when the sources and nature of this data is hidden behind some propagandized narrative

An encounter is when the Border Patrol apprehends someone at the border. And yes border crossing attempts/encounters are down 93%

upvote -7 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> OP 13w

You understand that they could get these numbers by: *not arresting anyone at the border* “Oh look! Encounters are down 93%, and releases are down 100%!!” *sips coffee as they let hundreds of migrants waltz in under the guise they’re not*

so... border patrol is apprending 93% less people at the border.... and theres 62,000 less people being released in, and less people getting by... sorry somethings not adding up here. theyre not catching as many, theres not as many going in.

Who is responsible for maintaining the dataset? How do they manage to compile all the different data points from across our southern border? How accurately and precisely is that data collected? You’rer actually being willfully ignorant, this is from CBP they’re being transparent with their numbers. It even says CBS.gov at the top also yes encounters means that border arrests were around 8k in may down 93% from last may

"theyre being transparent with their numbers" and norad is being transparent with how many houses santa has delivered presents to

upvote 17 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> OP 13w

Whereas: a third party may be able to compile estimates of net migrant flow rate by analyzing the inflow into sanctuary cities. This, hopefully, will corroborate the narrative that encounters are down and nobody is coming in. But, it could do the opposite.

Good think you don’t trust the CDC or the NIH about numbers of infections in the country, good thing you don’t trust the FBI for crime statistics. Good thing you don’t watch the weather report to tell you how hot it is outside.

I do trust

Well you see, NOAA has weather station data publicly available, you can see the exact readings for each sensor. The FBI has case reports documenting everything about a case. The CDC collects data from clinics and hospitals, and provides that dataset and its sources in a very UX friendly way (or, at least, they used to up until this January)

"good thing you dont trust the FBI for crime statistics" well the fbi didnt just get a new leader who said hed eliminate crime and then fbi crime data went to zero and stayed there while he said theyre doing less, so yea i trust that a little more

You can literally check their website, you can check the congressional Research service CRS.gov or look at the committee on Homeland security, but because you don’t believe your OWN EYES because of some weird bias against data collection, there’s no point and it’ll never be available to you.

consider that somebody taught you this “general rule” because they teach 150 students a day and don’t have time to evaluate the context of every information source each one uses in every single research project, but still knows you are likely to cite an AI overview or the top hit on google when given the chance

Real talk I do think OP is beyond help but I think it’s important to say lest other people get ideas. And ICE needs to be held accountable for being so enthusiastic about being a secret police and propaganda machine. As someone from a division that’s actually been pretty vocal about resisting, at least below the appointee level, it’s just extra gross to see.
