Why the fuck are we publicly live-streaming an execution. Don’t get me wrong this guy did horrible things and deserves the death penalty but there’s no need to televise it. That’s what countries in dictatorships do….

Because we have gloried radio DJs running the country, all because the entirety of rural/illiterate America would rather vote for their own lobotomy than ever vote for a woman.

Why not televise it? Genuinely people are like getting worked up about it but I don’t get why

Because knowing this admin they’re gonna make a major spectacle out of it and I think it’s probably better for the world that children aren’t able to access videos of guys getting their brains blown out

So the problem is WHO is doing the execution right?

Why WOULD they televise it? It’s literally the same shit we use as an example of everything wrong with autocratic governments and dictatorships.

Because it sets a precedent of indifference towards someone being executed by the state. It’s not about whether what this person did was horrible or not or even if the death penalty is moral or not…it’s about making a spectacle of something that shouldn’t be. He’s going to be killed either way, so I ask you why televise it?

Well if Hegseth snapped into a completely new person and said “yeah we’re gonna televise this execution by like lethal injection for educational purposes and it’ll only be broadcasted on late night TV and we’ll make sure social media companies don’t allow kids to see footage of it” then I might feel a little differently. But instead we all know it’s gonna be like a UFC fight night style “masculinity” show to show how powerful America is or something along those lines. So yes to an extent

I mean as morbid as it is, I think there would have been a legitimate audience for educational content surrounding the whole Christa Pike execution. But instead we’re gonna get some super over the top footage of a dude getting his brains exploded

Here is the thing with these ppl: when the state kills someone, it doesn’t matter who they are, they deserved it. It could be this terrorist. It could be that Renee lady in Minneapolis. None of us are safe
