Maybe I’m a biased Georgian but Brian Kemp is one of if not the best governors in the country. It’s a shame he’s about to get replaced by some incompetent Trump worshipper

I’m from Georgia Kemp can choke respectfully. He’s been engaging in voter suppression for years including purging voter rolls and taking away polling places, and has killed many Georgian women already by pushing through heartbeat bills and promoting the kind of political climate that lead to the medical abuse of Adrianna Smith. Being less bad than Trump doesn’t mean you’re good.

Improper voter purging is, in fact, inherently bad and saying it isn’t is such a batshit undemocratic take that I’m not even sure if it’s worth engaging anymore. If you want to talk cost and quality of living in ATL, idk how old you are but likely not enough to remember when “the stereotypes were true” because that was like the 80s. The improvements are from city council and the mayor, although I have problems with them too especially bc of Cop City.

Voter rolls and polling places are decided by the local municipalities. The heartbeat bill isn’t even applicable to situations like Smith’s, and it was her wish to carry to term anyway.

Probably no governor in the country has brought more business to their state than Kemp. Everything is being filmed here. Many huge companies are relocating here. Crime is at an all time low. Homelessness is at an all time low. As someone from Atlanta, I grew up in a time when it fit all the stereotypes that people say about it. Now, it’s safe as can be and the cleanest city I’ve been to. Granted, much of that is to be credited to Atlanta’s new mayor too, but it is a collaboration of work

Working for business is not working for the people. I’m also from Atlanta so you should know better. Crime and homelessness are at an all time low nationwide. everything was filmed here long before kemp took office. I don’t know how old you are but it’s been the case since I was very small. I’m also not sure where you got the idea he didn’t do voter purges. He very famously did those as Secretary of State for his own election

As for the heartbeat bills that specific legislation wasn’t used against Smith. It was the fetal personhood bill passed under Kemp in 2022. He’s also contributed consistently to an anti choice culture that allowed this medical experimentation to happen. He signed legislation that is killing women and it’s disingenuous to pretend he hasn’t. I’m not saying you need to act like he’s the devil but he’s not good.

Bringing businesses into your state creates jobs, and in Atlanta’s case as a white collar city, high paying jobs. Homelessness is absolutely not at an all time low across the country, and while things were filmed here before, there has been a massive uptick. Voter purging also isn’t inherently bad, and every source on it provides a different number so…

You missed the point that Smith wanted to carry to term. I don’t agree with his position on abortion, but I still think he is an amazing governor overall, and his approval rating is damn near 70% in a state that is half Dem, so…

I said it isn’t inherently wrong, not that it isn’t wrong when it’s undemocratic. It should occasionally happen though because, for instance, I re-registered to vote in California and thus, I should be purged from Georgia voter rolls

And the stereotypes have been true far more recently than that. Also, Andre Dickens is a fantastic mayor so i really don’t know what to make of you lmao

It is undemocratic. He was found to have improperly purged them including eligible voters and it made national news.

I really don’t know what stereotypes you’re talking about then because that doesn’t track at all with the reality I’ve lived in. Starting early 2000s Atlanta has been fine and much of the “stereotyping” is folks being afraid of Black people existing. Dickens is mostly fine and certainly better than some past mayors but Cop City is so egregious as to be unforgivable imo.

Okay well the numbers are widely disputed and it’s occurance is disputed, so it is hard to hold that against him. Regardless, that has nothing to do with the job he has done as a governor

She wanted to carry to term when she was alive. They actually had know was of knowing she wanted to be a medical experiment because she was unconscious or dead. Insane take. I don’t know why Kemp being the best governor ever is the hill you want to die on but it’s a weird one.

Homeless crackheads everywhere graffiti on every building and bridge trash everywhere. Cop city is only bad because of the forest they cut down to make it

If it was her wish, how is it outsiders’ place to say hey well now I bet she wants her baby aborted. She is brain dead either way, what difference does it make if the baby SHE WANTED CARRIED TO TERM is delivered

Yeah disputed by him because he got caught abusing his office in his own election 💀💀which has to do with his job as governor because it’s his he became governor. Bruh.

Deadass was never like this except for a couple areas past the 90s so I know you’re lying know lmao. If you think the woods was the worst part and not murdering unarmed protesters, giving police more military grade gear to use on citizens, legally declaring free speech domestic terrorism, and causing enormous disruption to the neighboring communities idk how to help you. One of many undemocratic opinions you’ve expressed in this thread.

I’m tired tbh to not engaging anymore but it’s clear to me you like Kemp because you’re a neoliberal with some undemocratic tendencies and have a really warped view of the history of the City. Hope you figure things out someday.

Forgive me for thinking police should be adequately prepared for riots like the ones it was build in response to. How does it disrupt neighboring communities other than by making them less crime riddled 😭
