I’m from Georgia Kemp can choke respectfully. He’s been engaging in voter suppression for years including purging voter rolls and taking away polling places, and has killed many Georgian women already by pushing through heartbeat bills and promoting the kind of political climate that lead to the medical abuse of Adrianna Smith. Being less bad than Trump doesn’t mean you’re good.
Improper voter purging is, in fact, inherently bad and saying it isn’t is such a batshit undemocratic take that I’m not even sure if it’s worth engaging anymore. If you want to talk cost and quality of living in ATL, idk how old you are but likely not enough to remember when “the stereotypes were true” because that was like the 80s. The improvements are from city council and the mayor, although I have problems with them too especially bc of Cop City.
Probably no governor in the country has brought more business to their state than Kemp. Everything is being filmed here. Many huge companies are relocating here. Crime is at an all time low. Homelessness is at an all time low. As someone from Atlanta, I grew up in a time when it fit all the stereotypes that people say about it. Now, it’s safe as can be and the cleanest city I’ve been to. Granted, much of that is to be credited to Atlanta’s new mayor too, but it is a collaboration of work
Working for business is not working for the people. I’m also from Atlanta so you should know better. Crime and homelessness are at an all time low nationwide. everything was filmed here long before kemp took office. I don’t know how old you are but it’s been the case since I was very small. I’m also not sure where you got the idea he didn’t do voter purges. He very famously did those as Secretary of State for his own election
As for the heartbeat bills that specific legislation wasn’t used against Smith. It was the fetal personhood bill passed under Kemp in 2022. He’s also contributed consistently to an anti choice culture that allowed this medical experimentation to happen. He signed legislation that is killing women and it’s disingenuous to pretend he hasn’t. I’m not saying you need to act like he’s the devil but he’s not good.
Bringing businesses into your state creates jobs, and in Atlanta’s case as a white collar city, high paying jobs. Homelessness is absolutely not at an all time low across the country, and while things were filmed here before, there has been a massive uptick. Voter purging also isn’t inherently bad, and every source on it provides a different number so…
I really don’t know what stereotypes you’re talking about then because that doesn’t track at all with the reality I’ve lived in. Starting early 2000s Atlanta has been fine and much of the “stereotyping” is folks being afraid of Black people existing. Dickens is mostly fine and certainly better than some past mayors but Cop City is so egregious as to be unforgivable imo.
Deadass was never like this except for a couple areas past the 90s so I know you’re lying know lmao. If you think the woods was the worst part and not murdering unarmed protesters, giving police more military grade gear to use on citizens, legally declaring free speech domestic terrorism, and causing enormous disruption to the neighboring communities idk how to help you. One of many undemocratic opinions you’ve expressed in this thread.
