I actually just did a project on this! It’s not only the current ENSO event that affects everything, and while people love to argue that the earth is just naturally heating (which it is), it’s also true that the earth is not naturally heating this much in such a short period of time. Since the Industrial Revolution, CO2 emissions have been steadily climbing (and are at an all time high rn) and strongly correlate with anomalous temperatures worldwide (which switched from cool to hot)

We are on fucking fire. Everyone not paid off by the rich or had wool pulled over their eyes, especially bill nye, told us this would happen. I’m so fucking pissed.

CO2 levels are currently equivalent to those of the Pliocene, over 3 million years ago. We haven’t seen a rise in atmospheric CO2 this rapid since the end Permian mass extinction (but fortunately the CO2 levels won’t be rising so fast over as long a period)
