Republicans would've deported Jesus and called him a radical leftist propagandist

I mean in fairness, Jesus WAS a radical leftist propagandist historically speaking. It’s just that that’s a compliment and Republicans seem to miss that part.

They would've compared him to people like Hasan Piker and put ((())) around his name

This narrative kinda sucks if I’m being honest. Could it possibly be true? Yes. But what’s the point?

I don’t think Jesus would have said that America deserved 9/11

No, he wouldn't, but his radical ideologies would've drawn the comparison anyway

Ya a leftist who affirmed traditional Jewish moral teachings, spoke strongly on sexual ethics, “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s”. Stop politicizing God, he doesn’t fit

1. Jesus did not affirm the “traditional Jewish moral teachings” that were prevalent during His earthly ministry. That’s part of why the traditionalists hated Him so much. 2. Leftism doesn’t prescribe any particular sexual ethic beyond a strong commitment to consent, so there’s no conflict there. 3. Jesus said ppl should pay taxes because currency is an apparatus of the State anyway, but that no human institution can claim the self because GOD’S image is on each person. That’s super political.

Critiquing religious leaders isn’t the same thing as rejecting Jewish moral framework. He was literally a Jewish rabbi and explicitly said he didn’t come to abolish the moral law but to fulfill and deepen it. Mapping 1st century theology into modern politics is dumb, it’s a gross oversimplification

There are anachronistic, oversimplified ways of going about it, but to say that applying 1st Century theological principles to contemporary politics is *inherently* anachronistic and unacceptable is to reject much of the value of Scripture and the redemptive promise of the Gospel.

Which I didn’t say. I’m rejecting your idea that Jesus is a “radical leftist propagandist”

It literally is what you said though. That’s what the words “Mapping 1st century theology into modern politics is dumb, it’s a gross oversimplification” mean when you string them together in that order. The fact of the matter is that Jesus did speak politically during His earthly ministry and that on the whole His political speech would be considered radically left-wing even by today’s standards.

Then you should have the discernment to know that saying “Jesus was a radical leftist propagandist” is an insane oversimplification of who Jesus was and what He did on earth. Stop trying to fit our Lord into your political party. He doesn’t fit into one

It’s not any more of an oversimplification than me saying “I am a Texan”. Just because it’s not the ENTIRETY of someone’s identity doesn’t make a true statement false. I stand by what I said because the words of Scripture show that it’s true. You’re right that our Lord doesn’t fit into any earthly party but that’s not what I’m doing.

Ya you saying you’re from Texas is the same thing as calling the messiah a radical leftist “propagandist”

In terms of the point I was making? Yes. Both statements are true, both are wildly simplistic relative to the full scope of the person they reference. Also why the need for quotes around propagandist. That word isn’t inherently negative so I’m a little confused by that choice.
