it’s only being called fascism now bc white people are starting to feel it. black and brown ppl have been feeling this but it never mattered bc you were “at brunch”

Why try to divide people when we need to be united more than ever in this very moment?

because the only reason why you care in this moment is because now it’s bothering you when black and brown folks have been telling you this shit

Well it sounds like we’d probably disagree on quite a few things, but I for one don’t think you deserve to die for that. No reasonable person thinks that way

I’ve cared much longer than this year. You’re making a huge generalization of all white people as if I wasn’t bothered before

You saw some people on the Internet do that and you’re letting it affect your view of tens of millions of people

cool then you shouldn’t have a problem with it, you should be just as upset as me bc you know damn well only a small percentage of white ppl were speaking about it

I have a problem with it because you’re never going to get people to buy into what you’re saying when you gatekeep your beliefs and shame people for not feeling a certain way sooner. The left needs to be focused on building a community of people who will try to do something about it and this kind of rhetoric only pushes people away from doing the things we need them to

Sorry pal but your casual racism isn’t going to change my principles. We don’t have some kind of bond here just because we’re both white

how do you think you’re gonna get black and brown ppl to buy into your shit if most of you treat us the same way i’m treating you right now. im simply returning the energy. until you start to treat us like we have every right to be mad and actually listen when we say things then you can’t expect us to work together with you.

I’m just not sure what you want people to do then? It’s like a damned if they do damned if they don’t situation. People are out protesting ICE targeting the Hispanic community and you’re upset with them for being late to the party. I understand the frustration that these people tend to be spotty with how they show up but don’t you think this could be an opportune moment for more of them to get on board?

i do think it’s an opportune moment but getting on board also means educating yourself properly and joining the movement with the intentions of fighting for everyone’s rights, not just enough for you to feel comfortable. we always have to settle for less because people arent putting in the effort to sympathize with black and brown folks. and since white people are “the majority”, what happens to us is a “worthy sacrifice” so that “the majority” get what they need.

so no, i don’t hate white people in general, and i don’t hate them for “realizing late”, but i have every right to be profoundly annoyed with the vast majority of them because time and time again, white people are consistently late to the party and when they join the party, they only care about what they get out of it.
