“There are only 51 Rice’s Whales left in the Gulf!!!” Brother they werent even recognized as a unique species until 2021, because of genetic testing. Theyre basically the same of a Bryde’s whale (90k pop), these are just inbred and dont leave the Gulf.

Bro what does this even mean? Will you agree they’re a unique species in 100 years because it’s been a while so it’s no longer a new discovery? That’s not how discoveries work, you know? Also, yeah, no shit genetic testing is a new, advanced approach and it’s more reliable than previous taxonomic testing methods. Not that I expect you to know anything about how this works.

And those publications show that there are genetic, skeletal, and behavioral differences that warrant a distinct species. And even if they weren’t a unique species, that’s not a reason to drill for more oil and harm their population along with endangered turtles, manatees, corals etc.

Hopefully they’re still around in 100 years
