I wouldn’t say the U.S. was ever anti-fascist beyond wartime propaganda. We didn’t enter the war to defeat the big bads and be the good guys or for any other moral or ethical convictions. That’s the liberal fairytale, the myth of good vs evil. In war there are no good guys. Us entering the war when we did was a strategic move and to defend our allies, that’s it. Whoever won the war would control the rest of the century.
