There’s spaces on Reddit genuinely delusional enough to think that ChatGPT is their romantic partner, and they updated their model recently to make sure GPT didn’t role play w them anymore. I’m concerned for all the people claiming their partner is dead

Im glad OpenAI made the decision to not have a constant affirmation machine for these people anymore, so people can start to break out of their dependency on AI and start connecting with real people. But at the same time these people clearly live very sad lives if they feel the need to post on Reddit about how OpenAI turned GPT into a “toxic ex”. Like do they hear themselves??

Yeah it’s sad bc as people get lonelier and ai becomes more widespread I think this is gonna become more and more common. We’re gonna need like treatment centers or ai-anonymous meetings or something

(TW/suicide) tbh we need to dismantle the companies causing this. OpenAI absolutely knew what was going on and let it happen for a while because it gets more people to use their product and bring in money they desperately needed. same stuff with the scenarios where GPT encouraged people to kill themselves

Couldn’t agree more, I just think it’s going to take an extremely long time bc of how slow government moves and how ancient our lawmakers are. Most of them don’t even really understand what ai is, let alone all the risks it brings. I mean the trump admin is fighting to deregulate rn. It’s depressing but I just don’t see much positive action on this happening soon

Which is why as a generation I think we need to continue being very critical of this technology. It should be taboo to trust these things
