It’s a miracle PA isn’t in recession. Our republican senate is refusing to pass the budget that the democrat house is proposing. We just hit over 100 days with no budget. Every state service is borrowing money, schools are hurting, our public transit was almost slashed heavily, and things are pretty bad here

It will take some time to see, but I think part of what’s saving PA may be that SEPTA was ordered to not cut service. But I think we’d have to see cuts for a while in order to start seeing a GDP decline for months

I looked into it and apparently a huge reason for it is we’re becoming a huge AI data center powerhouse. I remember Microsoft straight up purchased and plans to reopen the Three Mile Island nuclear plant for powering AI, and apparently Amazon invested $20 billion into AI infrastructure here.

We’re also a juggernaut when it comes to programs in general. Like we’re reclaiming abandoned coal mines and fixing them up, there’s legislation in the works to allow crypto miners to use abandoned oil wells on the condition they cap them when they’re done (uncapped mines are awful for pollution), and we’re making strives in reviving towns and cities
