Basically, if the president orders something and a judge finds it illegal, the judge can block it nationwide That has now been overruled. When the president has been found to do something illegal, it only applies between the government and the individual suing the government. Essentially the federal government is now treated as an individual actor. If they’re doing something illegal to you, you have to sue them and prove it

So basically the judicial branch just lost individual power? But we can still use them to sue the President, right?

Yeah so say Trump issues an order limiting the 1st amendment. That order will now affect you no matter what unless you or your state opt-in to be part of a class action lawsuit against the government and win

Essentially before, the burden of proof that a law was constitutional was placed with the executive branch. Now, the burden of proof a law is violating the constitution is placed on the plaintiffs. And even if it is ruled that the law is unconstitutional as it was applied to you, it only applies between you and the government. No longer does that law’s unconstitutionality apply nationwide like it did before

Okay nice! Hopefully this pushes more people to participate in government. And at least this means MAGA won’t be able to stop the next democratic president as easily just because they have the $$$

Brother, this means essentially only rich people have rights. Do you have any idea how much it can cost to sue the government?

Bruh not just maga are poor. Our jobs work is to death and you think we have time to track every court proceeding. It would be like whack a mole to the nines. If critical constitutionally guaranteed rights get rolled back then only those with money and time can keep them??? That’s literally formalizing second class citizenry

It also means the constitution quite literally applies differently in different states. A state might be able to sue something is unconstitutional, win, and therefore it applies to the entire state. But if another state doesn’t sue, then the constitution applies differently there

Damn. I was actually unaware it cost anything to sue the government. But I think my point still stands. If enough people start to care that our system, as it works now, is built to keep us working, distracted, and fighting then I think we could change things so it’s easier to keep up with cases rulings. That information belongs to the public.

Basically, we just got one step closer to some type of revolution or change depending on how much the executive branch abuses this power

Ngl I thought the constitution was already applied differently in every state. I mean California legalized gay marriage before it was legal in the countries’ Constitution
