Yet another case where you demonstrate your ignorance. Yes Sherman initially viewed the civil war as a war just to keep the union together but as the war went on and he actually was up close with the realities of the plantations and what was happening there he changed his views to be totally against slavery. No defending his views on indigenous ppl they are awful but it is irrelevant to the convo.
