My point with this series I’ll be doing is showing how much gerrymandering can do even in super red or blue states where you can stretch out even the smallest amount of support into smth like this.

From GA, (theharvardpoliticalreview.com/racial-gerrymandering-fair-representation/) moved to NY where they’ve been doing there darndest to get their own gerrymandering through for a while now. To be clear the Republicans are worse about it no doubt, it just drives me up the wall that this kind of voter suppression is so common and just allowed to happen on a regular basis.

Tbf while NY does have some with cutting off Buffalo and Rochester into their own districts they could easily get rid of long islands 2 republican districts into 1, NY-11, and one of the western NY districts

No exactly! I mean I know theres corruption in pretty much all state governments but the stuff they get away with here is kinda wild. Between the state and the NYC government, tamanny hall never went away tbh.

It could be a lot worse tho overall with gerrymandering . Corruption also grows when you’re the dominate party for like eons with no competition. You get comfortable and feel no need to adapt.

Theirs a reason you don’t see it as bad in battleground states with corruption as if either party gets sluggish it’s a massive determent to keeping power.
