I’m not a Maga conservative, just a fiscal one. Mainly highly supporting increasing our manufacturing capacity in America. Self sufficient logistics. Not to say I don’t want globalization, just that we need to make sure our own needs are met first. Once we’re self sufficient, we can start expanding industry to support global exportation. Which will hopefully replicate the boom of the late 1800s-1900s.
as someone who works in manufacturing i need to explain this to you. this idea that should become “self sufficient” is impossible. the level of technology we have now in manufacturing cannot survive that level of isolation. there are so many products now that just can’t be made in the US. we don’t have the materials, we don’t always have the means to import those raw materials, and we don’t have the man power.
manufacturing plants take years and millions of dollars to build and once you have the space almost all of your machinery is going to be foreign made. on top of that any switch to american made products will be more expensive. the reason the industrial boom happen in the 1800-1900s is because of exploited labor. there are still so many things we make in the US and those plants need people.
Automation is going to take over well before we can get up to that point. My specialty is raw resources so trust me I’m aware that for a lot of things we are heavily reliant on foreign goods. But there are alternatives. My thesis involves extracting cobalt and rare earth elements from coal wastes. Making cleaning the environment strategically, domestically, and economically beneficial
