Our current system of incredibly long wait times is not good, but we should have standardized method of immigrating to this country, which rewards people for following it with access to government programs, and recognition and punishes people who don’t follow the procedure with no recognition, and possibly even deportation

NO ONE IS SUGGESTING OPEN BORDERS ARE YOU DUMB. Democrats AND republicans advocated for a border bill that would tighten the border and place even more restrictions on who can come into the country and trump vetoed it and has instead not strengthened our border through any policy whatsoever

Right but the key to making a better system is POLICY MAKING. Which Trump has so clearly been against. Now we have no policy to strengthen the border or for individuals obtain a pathway to citizenship and instead we’re demolishing our economy let alone tearing people from their families. That’s not a solution
