While imperfect, we should be proud of: 1st country on earth w/ public school & hospital in every county. Passed Social Sec when 9/10 died below the poverty line, labor laws when children were chained into factories. (See: triangle shirtwaist) Created food safety regs when the main meatpacking plant in Chicago had open toilets. Invented the internet w/ ARPAnet, a ‘60s DoD project. Put a man on the moon when computers had less processing power than a Keurig.

Wish more of us had true appreciation for what made us “great” to begin with. We created worker’s safety laws when your employer could/would kill you (see: radium girls), built the best infrastructure on earth w/ 164k miles of highway & 47k of interstate. No manmade organization will ever be perfect, but our govt didn’t totally suck until Citizens United & Buckley v. Valeo turned both “sides” into mere puppets.

The beginning of the end was trickle-down economics focusing the national wealth upwards, while starving out the lower classes.

Yeah – but trickle down exists because of the 1978 SCOTUS ruling Buckley v. Valeo, which deregulated lobbying & turned our govt into a buncha cucks Nixon created OSHA and the EPA, Eisenhower started the space race, built the interstates, & passed the highest tax rates in recorded human history. Taft broke Standard Oil & the American Sugar Refiners into dozens of competitors. Even Republicans used to have to *do things.* Today? Dems = “bare minimum” & GOP = “🖕 @ govt”
