I was thinking along the same lines. There is increased frustration and panic around the current state of the country and world in general and people are directing it all to groups of people that are most convenient to blame. Its almost comical how formulaic history is considering anytime anything in society is “going wrong” one race or demographic is deemed the problem. Since most social groupings are almost entirely ambiguous these ppl try to legitimize the categorization of ppl via “science”

I think bigots operating though “pseudoscience” is the most insidious form of hate because while they seek to find existing structures like the scientific method to warrant their intolerance and inhumanity they corrupt and impede actual science which is society’s greatest asset imo. As someone pursuing the sciences it disgusts me to see these people try to associate their filth with smtng directly opposed to them

no i feel you, im in the social sciences which perpetuated those ideas for a while before pulling its head out of its ass. we literally go thru the history of thought around race science and cultural evolution before systematically going through why it’s all bullshit

i think part of it also comes down to our hyper-individualistic and victim blaming culture. people rationalize their bigotry with these understandings and ignore all of the research that says the opposite or just call it fake, it’s infuriating
